χ comes from his real name, Kai Kane (母音カイ), which is pronounced the same as his first name. Though they have no relation, his name also follows the same theme as Miu Kone: if scrambled, Miu's name becomes "umi", meaning "ocean", compared to χ's name, which sounds like the Japanese word for "sea". Their last names are also related: "kone" means "consonant", while "kane" means "vowel".

Nobody wants to mess with this kid! χ is armed with an unlimited arsenal of weapons and he’s not afraid to use them! Underneath his childlike appearance lies a cold-blooded killer with an unbridled appetite for flesh and blood; in fact, he’ll dine on anything! Literally! χ is known to show no mercy towards anyone, often threatening anyone who pursues him with “Or else I’ll eat you” and usually succeeds in doing so, and for his morbid sense of humor such as offering someone a dish made from their lover’s corpse as a gift.
